CNN's 50 Asian Restaurants, Top 50 ranking of the best restaurants in Asia for 2024

CNN's 50 Asian Restaurants is one of the world's top 50 restaurant brands, and a panel of more than 300 food critics, authors, chefs, and restaurateurs was selected based on their knowledge of the field.

In the top 50, Singapore has the most restaurants, with nine, followed by Bangkok, Thailand, with eight, Nippon Taoist with five, and Seoul, South Korea, with four.

As a special award, Seongan in Mosu, Seoul, won the 'Chef's Choice' award. Most of the restaurants are in the price range, but it's also worth a visit when you're traveling abroad.

Korean restaurants in the top 50

13th : Mingles (Korean), Gangnam-gu
19th: Seven Store (Western), Gangnam-gu
21st: Onjieum (limited food), Jongno-gu
41st: Mosu (Korean)

 

 

A special award includes the "Person to Watch" trophy, which was awarded to Beijing's Lamdre restaurant for "pioneering thoughtful, plant-based dining in China's capital."

The "Best Female Chef in Asia" award went to Pichaya 'Pam' Soontornyanakij, owner of Bangkok restaurant Potong, who came in 17th place on this year's list.

 

Two other restaurants in Bangkok were selected, with the Sustainable Restaurant Award going to Haoma and this year's sixth-place finisher, Chef Ton's Nusara, winning the Art of Hospitality Award.

Mineko Kato of Tokyo's restaurant Faro won Asia's Best Pastry Chef, while Taipei's Logo's Kevin Lu was named Asia's Best Sommelier.

Seoul's Mosu's Seong-an, who is credited with sparking a new wave of Korean fusion cuisine, won the Chef's Choice Award, while Hong Kong's legendary Danny Yip of The Chairman won the Icon Award.
